In this course students are given the opportunity to master the foundational skills required for 3-D modeling and animation through the use of cutting-edge software. The modeling of environments, characters, and objects, along with basic story and script writing principles are the focus of this course. Much of the course involves analyzing 3-D model objects to interpret the point of interest, the prominence of the subject and visual parallels between the structures of natural and human-made environments. Student will create a portfolio and/or demo reel of the year’s work.

Course Overview

Course Format:
This class will be covered by way of lecture, discussion, demonstration, presentations and guest speakers. This course is project-based. You will be given the necessary skills then assigned a project that demonstrates those skills. Students will be expected to watch videos related to the assignment prior to arriving in class.
Critiques:
We will have critiques. Critiques are an opportunity for students to share opinions and ideas about work. It is an excellent way to articulate your thoughts and fine-tune your visual awareness skills. Everyone will be expected to participate. Disrespect will not be tolerated!
Grading:
This class will be graded on a daily effort, tests and completion of projects. Each week you will receive a Participation grade
Daily, Participation, and Other grades: 20%
Minor: Quizzes and Step-by-Step Tutorials: 30%
Major Projects: On Your Own Projects: 50%
You will be penalized for late work according to the AHS student handbook.
